Walk Pain Free: The Most Effective Exercise for the Gait Cycle

is Today’s blog post is all about walking. First, what exactly is “the gait cycle“?

The gait cycle is the sequence of motions that occur from the moment one foot touches the ground to the moment that same foot touches the ground again. It describes how we walk, step by step.

Alrighty now… let’s discuss why it’s important:

The gait cycle is important because it provides a detailed understanding of how we walk, which is essential for diagnosing, treating, and preventing issues related to movement, balance, and overall mobility. The gait cycle evaluation is used to target a rehab program, provide injury prevention strategies, and improve athletic performance. This is also a critical evaluation tool for people looking to improve their posture and alignment.

Do you compensate when you walk? Is your gait “off”?

If so, this could be the “root cause” of your dysfunction!

One of the most common gait dysfunctions is when people walk with their feet turned out, which I call “duck foot walking.  Visit this blog for descriptions on how this gait cycle can impact muscle development, potentially creating a slippery slope of muscular misalignments.

Today’s exercise video is an amazing tool to help your brain “rewire” how you walk. We can train certain muscles to be stronger or longer, but the brain has to relearn the input on how we should be walking in order to correct the gait cycle patterning.

Watch the video below for exact details on how to do this. It only takes 5 minutes a day!
