Once a day, for 7 days, I will be posting my favorite posture exercise/stretches. I hope you play along!
Day 3: The missing link for people who have hunched over posture is often super tight lats. When the lats are tight, they will internally rotate the arms at the shoulder joint and result in rounded shoulders. This stretch should feel really good. If you can’t reach the top of the doorway, step up on a block or stool.
1. Cross the outside leg in front of the inside leg. Bring the outside hand up to the top of the door frame. Use the inside arm to push against the door so you don’t shut the door on yourself!
2. Shift your hips away from the door as you simultaneously push into the door with your inside arm.
3. Make sure your body is directly perpendicular to the door so you are stretching your side body. Hold this position for 1 minute on each side.
